A recent statement by the President of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, Inge Paulini, has clarified the relationship between the introduction of faster mobile and wireless networks and the electromagnetic smog they emit. According to Paulini, there is no inherent connection between the rapid development of 5G networks and an increased electromagnetic smog. This is because the same or similar frequency bands are being used, making the impact of the new technology on the environment and human health negligible.
Paulini, in an interview with the Rheinische Post, stated that the agency has been researching the potential health risks of electromagnetic smog for decades and has found no evidence of harm to human health, as long as the established safety limits are respected. The safety limits in Germany are typically not exceeded, Paulini added.
