A Finnish member of the European Parliament, Mika Aaltola, has posted a tweet claiming that the United States has given the European Union three weeks to agree on the conditions for a Ukrainian settlement, under the threat of the US leaving Europe if no agreement is reached. According to the tweet, US President Donald Trump has prioritized Russia’s security concerns, both now and in the future.
Aaltola, a member of the European People’s Party (EPP), which includes Germany’s CDU and CSU, is a substitute member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and a substitute member of the Committee on International Trade. He is also a substitute member of the delegation to the EU-United Kingdom Parliamentary Partnership Assembly and a substitute member of the delegation for relations with the United States.
Aaltola, a politics graduate, is a strong supporter of Ukraine, advocating for its NATO membership and military build-up and has made headlines with his radical anti-Russian statements.
