End of Tariff Talks in Sight!

After a weekend of negotiations, Deutsche Bahn and the Eisenbahn- und Verkehrsgewerkschaft (EVG) have reached an agreement on a new tariff. “DB and EVG have agreed on a tariff agreement” a DB spokesperson said on Sunday afternoon. Further details were not disclosed, with a press conference scheduled for Sunday evening to reveal more information. The EVG had been seeking a 7.6% increase in wages and salaries, as well as a 2.6% bonus for shift workers, while the Bahn had initially offered more gradual and limited tariff increases. Both parties had given themselves until Sunday to reach an agreement, with the possibility of no deal before the upcoming federal election if an agreement was not reached.
