It was a vote that not only the representatives of some pharmaceutical companies must have held their breath for: One of the most critical appointments in the cabinet of US President Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has successfully cleared the hurdles of the US Senate and was confirmed as the future Health Minister with 52 votes from Republican senators. One Republican Senator, Mitch McConnell, voted against him.
Kennedy had already made a name for himself as a vaccine critic before the Corona crisis, criticizing in particular the high number of vaccinations in early years and the added substances as dangerous. During the Corona crisis, he was one of the most prominent voices warning of the added substances.
Robert Kennedy Jr. originally wanted to run for the position of the Democratic presidential candidate, then, after the candidacy was set without a party decision, he ran as an independent candidate, but eventually joined Donald Trump’s team and withdrew his candidacy in the decisive states.
He intends to rebuild the healthcare system under the slogan “Make America healthy again”, as the US healthcare system has the worst ratio of price to results worldwide. Many also have high expectations of him regarding an investigation into the Corona incident.
The appointment of RFK Jr. as Health Minister is even more unusual than the appointment of Tulsi Gabbard as head of the intelligence services. She was a senator for the Democrats, but the Kennedy family has been a longtime stalwart of the US Democrats since the generation of his father, John F. Kennedy’s uncle.
