Dissatisfaction is growing among the Greens over the migration policy course of Chancellor candidate Robert Habeck (Greens).
According to a report by “Bild”, the members of the “Federal Working Group on Migration and Flight” are criticizing Habeck’s “Security Offensive” and his 10-point plan for migration and internal security policy.
“He is catering to right-wing narratives and running after stereotypes that aim to normalize racist debates” quotes “Bild” from a letter to Habeck, which had around 230 supporters by Monday evening: “We Greens are unequivocally on the side of refugees and migrants in the already significantly shifted right-wing discourse. That’s why we have adopted an election program that sets a humane migration policy and defines security much more broadly.”
“The publication of the 10-point plan contradicts this. Bitter compromises on the EU level, which the Greens had to accept reluctantly, are being sold as original Green goals, which have nothing to do with the real political goals of our party.”
The authors also write, according to “Bild”: “Tougher asylum policy does not make Germany safer. Deportations do not prevent murders. We need and want no tougher asylum policy.” The letter is to be sent on Tuesday.
