Shocking Betrayal of Party Line on Minimum Wage!

In a departure from the Free Democratic Party’s (FDP) official stance, German FDP Member of the Bundestag Nils Gründer has expressed affinity for the minimum wage. “I also have an interest in relieving the broad middle” Gründer told the Watson news portal.

Although he would not “loudly say that” within his party, Gründer has indeed shown sympathy for proposals from other parties. “I’ve never blurted that out anywhere, but: I don’t even think the minimum wage is that bad” he said. The FDP politician was confronted with the assertion that FDP and CDU primarily create policies for the upper income groups.

Since January 1, 2025, the statutory minimum wage in Germany has been set at 12.82 euros. The SPD and Left Party have been calling for an increase to 14 or 15 euros. The Free Democrats had previously consistently opposed any hike.
