A shooting at a school in the central Swedish town of Örebro on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of around ten people, including the 35-year-old perpetrator, according to the police’s evening press conference. The number of wounded is currently unknown.
The perpetrator, who the police describe as a lone individual, was not previously known to the authorities. While they cannot rule out the possibility of additional perpetrators connected to the incident, there is no immediate danger, the police stated.
Local media reports had earlier spoken of shots fired with an automatic weapon. The police warned against approaching the crime scene and had a large contingent on the site.
