Germany’s Federal Armed Forces Inspector, Carsten Breuer, does not expect a swift end to the Ukraine war.

When asked if he believed US President Donald Trump could end the war in Ukraine in the short term, he told RTL and ntv: “What I see militarily in Ukraine is an advantage on the Russian side. I’m not saying anything new. It’s a very, very slow pace that Russia is currently making and can make.”

“It’s only minor territorial gains that can be achieved and that at an immensely high price. On the Russian side, there are between 1,000 and 1,500 severely wounded or fallen soldiers every day, or 1,500 men who can no longer take part in the fight.”

Russia has lost 800,000 soldiers since the start of the war. “800,000 is as many as the population of Frankfurt. One must simply take the time to imagine that.” This means, “Russia is moving very slowly, but is still fueling this war. I don’t see the war ending in very short time, in very short periods of time, in the near future” said Breuer.
