Mainz 05’s Head Coach, Bo Henriksen, has cautioned against excessive expectations despite the team’s current strong league position. In an interview with the “Kicker”, he emphasized the importance of understanding the team’s identity.
“I think it’s essential to know who we are” Henriksen said. “Christian Heidel was right, perhaps a bit dull, but it’s the truth: we need to get away from the relegation zone as quickly and as far as possible. Everything else will take care of itself.”
He also expressed a dislike for complacency, stating, “I think it’s important to think big and have goals.”
Henriksen, who has been in charge of the team since February 2024, has led the Mainz 05 to a significant improvement, moving from a direct relegation spot to a safe position in the league. Currently, the team is in sixth place, with the possibility of competing in European competitions.
Henriksen, a Dane, has reportedly felt at ease in his new role. When asked about his contract extension until 2027, he said, “For me, it was a no-brainer. I can be myself here completely.
