Habeck Unveils 10-Point Plan to End Migration Crisis

The Green Party has presented its own 10-point plan to combat the migration crisis and strengthen internal security.

“We need a broad security offensive in Germany” said Green Party Chancellor candidate Robert Habeck to the Bild newspaper. “This is evident in the horrific murder cases in Aschaffenburg, Magdeburg, Solingen and Mannheim, as well as other violent incidents. We must increase security in the country for everyone, regardless of their migration history.”

The measures bundled by the Greens are already known. Habeck is calling for a “full enforcement offensive” with a focus on Islamists and other extremists, stating, “We cannot accept that in Germany over 170,000 arrest warrants have not been executed, including more than 14,000 for violent crimes.”

He is also demanding a “risk assessment at an early stage” (“From now on, mental health should be checked at the initial medical examination of asylum seekers”) and a “cooperation obligation for federal and state authorities” so that criminal offenders do not slip through the cracks. All data on high-risk individuals should be “available at the click of a button” Habeck emphasized.

He once again made it clear that he is willing to cooperate with CDU Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz: “Such a broad security offensive must be negotiated among democrats – not with right-wing extremists and not under the threat of cooperation with right-wing extremists. My hand for talks has been and remains outstretched.
