FDP Leader Christian Lindner Criticizes CDU Chancellor Candidate Friedrich Merz’s Actions on the “Zustrombegrenzungsgesetz”.
In a recent interview with the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”, FDP leader Christian Lindner expressed his disapproval of CDU chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz’s actions on the “Zustrombegrenzungsgesetz” last week. Lindner stated that he would not have recommended Merz’s approach, as it also split the CDU. He noted that there were dissenting voices within the CDU and some CDU-led states had initially ruled out approval.
Lindner also mentioned that many in the FDP faction had struggled with the issue, as they firmly reject any cooperation with the AfD. Although the FDP did not collaborate with the AfD, Lindner explained that the party made an effort to find a compromise in the middle of the parliament without the AfD’s involvement, due to the CDU’s proposal of a potential majority with the AfD’s vote.
