UK imposes sanctions on imports of caviar and diamonds.
The Russian luxury goods industry is the latest to be targeted by new UK sanctions taken today as the British government has imposed a ban on imports of caviar and other expensive products.
Imports of silver and wood products from Russia will also be banned, while tariffs will increase by 35 percent for diamonds.
This means that the total value of sanctions on goods is more than one billion pounds (1.2 billion euros).
The measures are aimed at inflicting maximum damage on the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin, reducing the resources and funds it needs to continue its occupation of Ukraine.
The new sanctions are in addition to the already existing package of sanctions imposed on Russia by the United Kingdom, which consists of various measures banning the import of products, from vodka to fertilizers.
Otherwise, the World Bank has announced that the Russian state has caused material damage in Ukraine worth $ 60 billion.
