The Left Criticizes CDU Leader Friedrich Merz for His Statements, Wanting to Implement Migration Plans with AFD Votes
“Now they’re exactly presenting the motions that will turn the Berlin Wall into a wobbly garden fence”said Left Party leader Ines Schwerdtner on Monday in Berlin. By doing so, the Union is opening the “box of Pandora”. Merz is seeking “scapegoats and ignoring the important problems of the people”the party leader added.
Schwerdtner criticized the Union’s plans to restrict travel freedom and keep asylum seekers in custody indefinitely, even if there are obstacles to their departure, as being incompatible with the existing law.
The planned order to the Federal Police to deport more people than those who arrive is senseless, as the Federal Police has no influence on these numbers, Schwerdtner reminded. Moreover, they recalled the “remigration plans of the AFD”the Left Party leader continued.
The Left Party wants to counter this with an “antifascist economic policy.””We demand as the Left a better personnel supply as well as a massive expansion of social welfare institutions, particularly of psychosocial support”Schwerdtner said. Refugees should, according to the party’s will, be allowed to work from the first day and cover their own living expenses.
After the recent violent acts by previously psychically conspicuous perpetrators, experts had criticized that refugees often did not receive psychological care to process traumas from their homeland or the flight.
