According to a recent online survey by the market research institute GfK for the website and domain provider GoDaddy, reported by the “Spiegel”, it seems that founding a company in Germany is not an easy task. A majority of the 1,000 respondents answered that it was not easy, with only around 28 percent saying “rather yes”or “yes” and about 41 percent responding with “rather no”or “no”, with the rest being undecided.
Younger respondents, aged 18 to 29, were more optimistic than those aged 50 to 74.
Bureaucracy was seen as a hindrance by nearly two-thirds of the respondents. Less than a quarter of the survey participants would advise a young adult to start a business. Even among the younger respondents, only a third would advise this, while among self-employed and freelancers of all age groups, 42 percent would do so. In total, 45 percent of the respondents were undecided, with the rest advising against starting a company.
