In the aftermath of the tragic events in Aschaffenburg on Wednesday, where a child and an adult were allegedly killed and two others severely injured by a man of Afghan nationality who is subject to deportation, the chairman of the Police Union (GdP) for the Federal Police, Andreas Roßkopf, has called for new competencies for the police. “Aschaffenburg is a real drama and a catastrophe” Roßkopf told the Rheinische Post (Friday edition). “It’s a classic failure of the responsible authorities.”
Now, something needs to happen, he emphasized. “Competences for the police, technical upgrading, and the consistent deportation of people who are conspicuous and have a criminal record” Roßkopf demanded. “An end to empty words from politics.
