FDP Leader Demands Emergency Minister Meeting After Aschaffenburg Stabbing

After the deadly knife attack in Aschaffenburg, FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr has called for a crisis meeting of the federal and state interior ministers to discuss the consequences of the incident. “Politics must react. The interior ministers of the federal and state governments must come together for an extraordinary conference as soon as possible” Dürr told the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Thursday editions).

He added, “It must be ensured that potential violent offenders and individuals who stand out psychologically, like the Aschaffenburg attacker, are identified and deported. We have learned from a series of terrible events that those who have already become noticeable pose a threat. Action must be taken. If someone is deportable or has announced their departure, this departure must be carried out quickly. It cannot be that someone simply disappears from the radar.
