A social wing of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has called for a debate on high social contributions, urging that more services currently covered by social insurance be financed through tax revenue. “For us, it is clear that a sustainable financing of our social insurance systems will be one of the great tasks of the next government” said the chairman of the Christian Democratic Employees’ Association, Dennis Radtke, to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Thursday editions).
“It cannot be that, for example, the cost of nursing education is paid for by the nursing insurance fund. Nor will we allow the health insurance funds to receive significantly less money from the state for the healthcare of benefit recipients, and for the hospital reform of the coalition government to be borne by the contributors to the health insurance” Radtke emphasized.
He added, “Since these are societal tasks, they must be financed by tax revenue.” This way, it would be possible to limit the deductions on the payslip in the long run.
