In a recent statement, the German Left party has called for the government to investigate a possible entry ban for US billionaire Elon Musk in the country. According to the party’s federal chairman, Janis Ehling, “who uses fascist symbolism, is not welcome here.” Ehling made the statement to the Rheinische Post, emphasizing that “a ban on entry must be urgently examined.”
Ehling accused Musk of being an “obvious supporter of extreme right-wing groups” citing the business magnate’s gesture at the inauguration of US President Donald Trump as a clear transgression of a “red line.” The party official stressed that just because Musk is a billionaire, it does not mean that his actions should be automatically accepted.
The German Left party representative went on to state that “Germany must not provide a platform for anti-Semitism and the trivialization of National Socialism.” Ehling concluded that a ban on entry would be the appropriate consequence for the protection of democracy.
