Sanctions Be Damned, Meds Pour In!

According to data from Eurostat, cited by the RIA Novosti news agency, the EU’s imports of Russian pharmaceutical products more than doubled in November last year. The sales increased by approximately 4.5 million euros, a 2.2-fold rise compared to November 2023. However, imports then dropped by 23% over the course of the month.

In the first eleven months of the year, the EU purchased pharmaceutical products worth a total of 38.8 million euros, an 18% increase from the previous year (32.9 million euros in 2023).

In November, the main purchases by Europeans were pharmaceuticals for 3.2 million euros, as well as serums and vaccines for 1.4 million euros.

Russia now ranks 23rd among the EU’s suppliers of pharmaceutical products, with the top three being Switzerland, the USA, and the United Kingdom, with sales of 3.13 billion, 3.09 billion, and 529.6 million euros, respectively.
