The CEO of the Swiss Post, Roberto Cirillo, will step down after six years at the helm of the company. In an official statement, the Post confirmed that Cirillo will remain with the company until the end of March 2025. Thereafter, the company’s CFO, Alex Glanzmann, will take over the leadership on an interim basis until a successor or a successor is found.
Cirillo, who has been CEO of the Post since 2019, leaves behind a company that has focused on digitalization under his leadership. The prices for postal services were increased, and in May 2024, the closure of 170 branches was announced. These measures sparked criticism, particularly from the trade unions, which held Cirillo accountable for the planned reduction of branches to 2028.
In a personal statement, Cirillo commented on his time at the head of the Post:
“I had the opportunity to lead one of the most important institutions in our country for six years and to develop it out of the trust crisis into the future.”
He emphasized that the Post is now more solid than at the beginning of his tenure and that it is now time to hand the company over to a new generation.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Christian Levrat regretted Cirillo’s departure and praised his successful work. Even Federal Councillor Albert Rösti expressed disappointment and thanked Cirillo for his contribution to the successful development of the Post.
The Post will continue to implement its “Post of the future” strategy and will ensure a modern and self-financed public service. The search for a new CEO has already been launched.
