Russia will be expelled from the Human Rights Council.
The United Nations will hold a vote in New York on Thursday on Russia’s expulsion from the Human Rights Council.
Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a UN meeting that Kremlin troops had killed the Ukrainians “for pleasure.” The Russian ambassador denied war crimes charges from his country.
The Council is made up of 47 member states and works to promote and protect human rights worldwide.
The proposal to expel Russia – made by the US and the UK – will need the support of two-thirds of the 193 UN members.
An earlier UN resolution denouncing Russia’s occupation of Ukraine was passed by 141 countries last month.
