German grandmaster Vincent Keymer is poised to continue his ascent in the world rankings by 2025. “Top 20 is nice, but it’s not where I want to be in the long run” said the top player of the “Deutsche Welle” in an interview.
According to Keymer, he has always had a good intuition about where to place the pieces. “However, in more unorthodox positions, I sometimes lack the precision in depth in my calculations. It’s all about fine-tuning now” the grandmaster said. He emphasized that solving a few tactical exercises a day is not enough, and that a lot of small adjustments are required.
Currently, Keymer ranks among the world’s top 20 players, with an Elo rating of over 2,700, making him a “super-grandmaster.” He is the first native German to achieve this feat.
