After the protests against the AfD party convention in Riesa, the police have initiated a total of 70 investigations so far. This is evident from the operation report, which was published on Tuesday.
According to the report, it concerns 13 bodily harm cases, attacks on law enforcement officials (eight investigations), breach of the peace (six investigations), and intimidation (four investigations). Two people were provisionally arrested in the course of the operation.
Following an incident in which a state parliament member of the Left was injured, the police opened an investigation into a bodily harm case on Saturday. Additionally, an investigation was launched against another police officer, in which a scene unfolded where a dog handler, accompanied by his dog, pushed a rally participant back.
In the course of the Saturday, a total of around 4,000 police officers from twelve federal states and the federal police were deployed in Riesa, according to the police. In the course of the operation, 30 police officers were injured, nine of them without external involvement. The police did not provide information on the number of injured rally participants. Ten police vehicles were damaged during the three days of the operation in Riesa.
