Lithuania suspends imports of Russian gas.

Lithuania becomes the first country in Europe to stop importing gas from Russia to meet its domestic needs.

This was announced by the country’s president Gitanas Nausėda, adding that other European countries should do the same.

From this month – no more Russian gas in Lithuania. Years ago the country made decisions that today allow us to painlessly sever energy ties with the aggressor [Russia]. “If we can do it, the rest of Europe can do it,” President Nausėda wrote on Twitter.

Recall that Lithuania had announced that it would not allow any import of Russian gas.

It is expected that other European countries will soon join, which want to get rid of Russian dependence on gas.
