The search for investors for the two insolvent wind turbine manufacturers in Schleswig-Holstein appears to be promising. Daniel Friedrich, head of the IG-Metall district of the Coast, told the “New Osnabrück Times” that there are serious interested parties for the companies in Rendsburg and Flensburg.
“I expect that in the future, too, ships will be built at both locations” he said. However, the state will need to help in the transitional phase until a full takeover by new owners: “We need a transfer company for the time when the investor takes over. A seamless transition is unlikely, and it must be prevented that employees slide into unemployment or disperse in all directions during this time.”
Friedrich said that the state of Schleswig-Holstein must, together with the job agency and the relevant investors, secure the pre-financing of a transfer company. It is about around 500 employees at the companies FSG and Nobiskrug.
In December, the district courts of Flensburg and Neumünster had initiated insolvency proceedings for four companies of the shipyard group. According to the insolvency administrators, the operation of the shipyards is financially secured until January 31.
