After the controversial statement by AfD Chancellor candidate Alice Weidel, stating that in government, she would tear down all wind turbines, a party spokesperson has now clarified that it was a local measure intended.
The statement by Weidel regarding industrial wind power plants “only referred to the Reinhardswald” said the Bild party spokesperson. According to this, Alice Weidel does not intend to tear down all wind turbines in Germany, as critics and observers initially inferred from her speech.
In her first speech as AfD Chancellor candidate, Weidel had said: “The CDU government in Hesse is chopping down the Brothers Grimm’s fairy-tale forest for wind turbines. We know you, dear CDU. And I can tell you: when we’re in charge, we’ll tear down all wind power plants. Down with these windmills of shame.
