Bonn Party Congress to Unveil Election Platform

The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) gathered in Bonn on Sunday morning for a one-day federal party conference. The meeting aimed to finalize the party’s program for the upcoming federal election.

The 39-page document, titled “Our Land Deserves More” outlines the party’s stance on various issues. Notably, the BSW describes itself as the “only peace party in the German Bundestag” that consistently opposes current rearmament and arms deliveries to war zones. The party also demands a minimum wage of €15, a universal health insurance system, and a retirement system inspired by Austria’s model.

Additionally, the document includes demands for the repeal of the combustion engine ban and the heating system law, a halt to irregular migration, and an investigation into the COVID-19 era. The party plans to abolish the carbon price and promote research and development in the field of new nuclear power technologies.

Sunday’s conference, the second federal party conference of the BSW, featured planned speeches by the party’s co-chairs, Amira Mohamed Ali and Sahra Wagenknecht. Ali was scheduled to deliver the opening address, while Wagenknecht was to speak in the afternoon.
