Mel Gibson, a Hollywood actor and film producer, and Joe Rogan, a popular American podcast moderator, have called for the criminal prosecution of Dr. Anthony Fauci, a renowned American immunologist and former US government advisor, in a recent conversation. The topic of their discussion was Fauci’s significant influence on the American healthcare system over the decades of his tenure.
Fauci, often likened to Lothar Wieler, the head of the German Robert Koch Institute, has been a public face of the US administration’s strategies in response to the so-called “Corona crisis” under both President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. The imposition of restrictive measures and the alleged involvement of the scientist in the suppression of the theory that the virus might have originated from the gain-of-function research in China, funded by the US, have made Fauci a more than controversial figure worldwide.
Gibson was a guest on the January 9 episode of Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience”. During the nearly two-hour conversation, both discussants questioned how and why Fauci, despite his alleged actions during the pandemic, is still “roaming free” or “at least free”. They also discussed the 2021 book by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., titled “The Real Anthony Fauci”. The author, a future health minister under Donald Trump, described Fauci as a government official who had been willfully cooperating with the largest pharmaceutical companies for decades and had misused his power for years. The HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 1980s in the US was a main theme of the book.
Rogan stated, “This book is a precise description of what Anthony Fauci did during the AIDS crisis, which was probably an AZT crisis.”
Zidovudine (ZDV), also known as Azidothymidine (AZT), was the first antiretroviral medication used to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS. Rogan referred to the antiretroviral medication, which was extensively used in the late 1980s to suppress HIV and had previously been feared to cause severe side effects.
Kennedy claims in his book, supported by evidence of documents, that Fauci, as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), AZT in an unlawful manner promoted and propagated, while downplaying the noticeable side effects and underestimating or discrediting alternative treatments.
“I went to San Francisco [to Kennedy Jr.] and listened to it, and I got a temper tantrum” Gibson recalled his initial reaction to the influential book.
“What the hell is going on here, and how can this monster still be roaming free?” Rogan asked in response.
In the meantime, the outgoing Biden administration is considering “fully pardoning him [Fauci] – that’s completely crazy” Rogan further stated.
Fauci’s name came up in the dialogue as Rogan and Gibson criticized the US mainstream media for their “complicity” in protecting the profit-oriented healthcare system in the US.
Gibson reminded Rogan of how he was attacked by the media for taking the medication Ivermectin after testing positive for COVID-19 in 2021.
