He forecasts that health insurance premiums could increase to 20 percent by the next legislative period, citing a lack of political will to implement necessary changes. Baas is not optimistic about the prospect of fundamental reforms in the healthcare system, attributing this to the political reluctance to make necessary, but uncomfortable, adjustments.
At the beginning of the year, many health insurance companies raised their additional premiums as much as they have in decades, with half of the increase borne by the employee and the other half by the employer.
