The First Parliamentary Business Manager of the SPD Bundestag faction, Katja Mast, has reminded the reports on alleged remigration plans from a year ago and warned of growing influence of the AfD.
“Today, a year ago, Correctiv published a research that changed the view of our country. It brought to light plans from a meeting involving AfD officials, on how millions of people should be deported from Germany, which are shocking” Mast told the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition).
“It was a meeting of people deeply entrenched in right-wing networks and structures – for example, Martin Sellner. And of course, the AfD was not far behind” Mast said. “We must defend our democracy with its values enshrined in the basic law every day anew” the SPD politician admonished.
“The current day is important, to remain vigilant. Especially after we have just experienced how a tech billionaire from the US is in exchange with AfD leader Alice Weidel and is intervening in our election in Germany with unfair means” Mast said.
“It is scandalous if parts of the Union identify with the AfD in terms of content. That brings the Union low” Mast said, looking at recent statements by CDU Vice Julia Klockner. Klockner had posted on her social media channels: “You don’t have to vote for the AfD for what you want. There is a democratic alternative: the CDU.” As a result, she was accused of equating the CDU and AfD in terms of content. She then deleted the post shortly after.
