Jens Spahn, Vice-Chair of the Union’s parliamentary group, does not rule out a solo government of the Union after the Bundestag election. “I wouldn’t rule that out” he told the “Rheinische Post” (Monday edition). “A solo government of CDU and CSU is conceivable after some polls.”
The CDU politician added: “And it would be the best way to restore trust in the ability to act of politics and thus in democracy.” At the same time, the faction vice said: “There is a momentum that has possibly not been seen in decades. For a strong, independent Union. And we must seize that.”
The Union wants a majority on its own without the SPD and the Greens. “Voters want a real political change. And they want a government without false compromises” Spahn said.
