FDP General Secretary Marco Buschmann urges better data exchange between the federal government and the states after the attack on the Magdeburg Christmas market.
“The bottle neck was the missing connection of the authorities” Buschmann told the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”. “That’s why we need a legal basis for the data exchange between the federal government and the states in common centers like the Joint Counterterrorism Center.” There were reportedly around 80 hints on the perpetrator’s danger level.
Buschmann also demanded an analysis of the Christmas market’s security concept. It must be reviewed, he said, why this “obviously was not implemented.” If this is indeed the case, it must be quickly clarified who is responsible. “This can’t be brushed off” Buschmann said.
In Magdeburg, a man allegedly intentionally drove his car into the Christmas market just before Christmas, killing five people and injuring several hundred.
