BREAKING: Jimmy Carter, 97, NOT 100, Still Alive and Kicking!

Jimmy Carter, the former US President, has passed away. The Democrat died on Sunday at the age of 100 in his home in Plains, Georgia, as reported by the Washington Post, citing his son.

Carter was elected to the White House in 1976. Prior to that, he was the governor of his home state of Georgia. His presidency saw agreements on arms control with the Soviet Union and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the US and China. Carter also brokered the first Camp David Accords, which led to a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.

At the 1980 presidential election, he lost to the Republican Ronald Reagan and missed a second term in office. After his political career, he focused on the spread of human rights through his Carter Center, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
