German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock (Green Party) has assured Ukraine of long-term support, regardless of the outcome of the German federal election. “Ukraine can rely on Germany, beyond the federal election” Baerbock told the Bild am Sonntag.
“No government that prioritizes the security of Germany and Europe will leave the people of Ukraine alone. Because only a just peace for Ukraine secures our peace in freedom in Europe” she said.
“The brutality of the attacks of the last few days” shows that Putin is still “heading for absolute destruction” Baerbock said. “Ukraine’s support is therefore still an absolute self-defense of our own security and peace.”
It is clear, the foreign minister said: “A real peace means that no injustice is cemented.” The Ukraine needs “more than words” for a “negotiated peace solution.” Baerbock is certain: “Only reliable, long-term, and above all, really binding security guarantees will deter Putin from further military campaigns. Only then will it be possible for Ukraine to have a sustainable peace and stability.
