Majority of Germans Make Video Calls on Christmas Eve
According to a survey published by the IT industry association Bitkom on Monday, 58% of those questioned said they would use video calls to speak with family or friends on Christmas Eve.
Moreover, 62% of Germans who celebrate Christmas plan to send their holiday greetings through social networks or messaging apps instead of sending traditional paper cards. This percentage is nearly the same across most age groups, with the exception of seniors over 65, who are slightly more reserved, with only 37% preferring digital greetings over those on paper.
On the other hand, artificial intelligence does not seem to play a significant role in the Christmas season, with only 3% using AI to create, for example, poems, videos, or songs to play or send during the celebrations.
Bitkom Research, which surveyed 1,004 people in Germany aged 16 and above, including 931 who celebrate Christmas, conducted the survey from the 43rd to the 46th calendar week by phone.
