Rossmann, the CEO of the drugstore chain Rossmann, Raoul Roßmann, speaks out against demands for taxing billionaires whose wealth is below the threshold of 1 billion euros.
“Look at countries with very few or no billionaires. These are often socialist or communist states, and in most cases, people don’t do very well there, because the performance principle is no longer in effect” said Roßmann to the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”. He has been leading the drugstore chain, founded by his father Dirk, since 2021. Juso-Chief Philipp Türmer had recently said that there should be no more billionaires in Germany.
Roßmann spoke out in favor of expanding employee participation in companies instead of a billionaires’ tax. “It would be very good if the government thought more about how we can involve employees in the success of the company” he said. The existing models of employee participation are “complicated and not very attractive.” There’s still more to it, “that would be, in my opinion, a good topic for the election campaign.
