German Green Party Chair Franziska Brantner Warns Against Amendments to the Heating Act.
Consumers and industry representatives want predictability and no new market unrest, she told the Funke-Mediengruppe newspapers (Monday editions). “Of course, laws are evaluated, but when it comes to the Building Energy Act, it’s about reliability now.”
Brantner strongly criticized the announcement by the Union to abolish the Heating Act. This would lure citizens into a cost trap. “That’s exactly what it means if the CDU/CSU only focus on a rising CO2 price” she said. “The Union would make heating with gas and oil more expensive and at the same time cancel financial help for switching to a climate-neutral heating system.” Brantner announced the Greens’ resistance to the Union’s plans: “We won’t leave the citizens in the lurch.”
At the same time, Brantner acknowledged initial mistakes by Economy Minister Robert Habeck (Greens). “Not presenting the social gradation of the heating act immediately was a mistake” he said. “He addressed and corrected it.
