SPD Chief Lars Klingbeil has called for unity after the Magdeburg attack. “It’s important that we as a society, as a country, come together now” he told the Funke Media Group newspapers (Sunday editions). “After this terrible and brutal act – just a few days before Christmas – we must not let ourselves be split apart.”
At the same time, Klingbeil expressed support for reviewing new security measures. “All open questions must be clarified and then consistently pursued with all legal means” the party chief said. “It will also be a question of whether additional measures are necessary for security.” Klingbeil cautioned for a precise approach.
