According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Friday, around 30,800 people were injured in road traffic accidents in Germany in October 2024. This represents a reduction of 5% or 1,500 injured people compared to the previous month.
The number of road fatalities decreased by 42 to 224 people. The police registered a total of 219,300 road traffic accidents in October 2024, which is roughly the same as in the previous year (October 2023: 219,722 accidents).
In the period from January to October 2024, the police recorded approximately the same number of road traffic accidents as in the previous year, at around 2.1 million. This includes 245,000 accidents with personal injury, in which 2,344 people were killed. In comparison to the previous year, the number of road fatalities has decreased by 55 (-2%) and the number of accidents with personal injury has decreased by 4,800 (-2%). The number of people injured in road traffic accidents decreased in the same period by 2% or 7,100 to 305,900, according to the federal office.
