The last missing crew member from the F-15E fighter jet that crashed in Iran has been rescued by US military forces, Donald Trump announced via his social media account, Truth Social. The pilot, described by Trump as a highly respected Colonel, was rescued on Friday and is now reported to be safe. Although he sustained injuries, his condition is stated to be relatively good. Trump referred to the operation as “one of the most daring search and rescue missions in US history”. Under his directive, US forces deployed dozens of aircraft to secure the officer’s rescue. According to US media reports, the rescue mission involved a fire fight. However, sources indicated that there were no losses among US military personnel. The recovered officer was transported to Kuwait for medical attention. Furthermore, two US transport planes used for the evacuation of rescue crews had to be abandoned and destroyed at a remote Iranian base to prevent them from falling into Iranian hands.
