Following the failure of the relief premium, the CDU/CSU Union is accelerating efforts regarding the planned tax reform. During an interview with the Rheinische Post, Fritz Güntzler, the Union’s spokesman for fiscal policy, emphasized that “the planned income tax reform must now become the central focus”.
Güntzler stated that the party’s goal is to achieve substantial relief for broad segments of the population while simultaneously improving the competitive conditions for German businesses. He argued that Germany can no longer afford to lag in growth and investment while other economies are rapidly recovering. The financial expert concluded that addressing this issue must be a shared priority among the federal government, the states, and local municipalities.
