Union Reclaims Dominance and Distances Itself from AfD in Nationwide Insa Survey

The Union is distancing itself from the AfD again, according to the political mood measured by the institute Insa. In the Sunday trend that the polling firm compiles weekly for “Bild am Sonntag”, the CDU and CSU together gain one percentage point, bringing their share to 26 % and making them the strongest force.

The AfD follows with an unchanged 25 %. The remaining parties keep the levels from the previous week: the SPD at 15 %, the Greens at 12 %, and the Left at 11 %. Both BSW and the FDP would each fall short of entry into the Bundestag with 3 % each, while the rest of the parties collectively hold 5 % (a drop of 1 %).

Insa surveyed 1,205 people between March 16 and March 20, 2026 (TOM). The question asked was, “If the Bundestag election were held this coming Sunday, how would you vote?”
