The Forsa poll shows that the Union (CDU/CSU) remains ahead of the AfD in voter preference. In the weekly survey for RTL and ntv, the Union sits at 26 % and is unchanged, while the AfD holds steady at 24 %.
No shifts appear among the other parties. The SPD stays at 14 %, the Greens at 12 %, and the Left at 11 %. The BSW and the FDP both hold at 3 %, and the rest of the parties are at 7 %. The proportion of non‑voters and undecideds is 28 %, still well above the 17.9 % share of abstaining voters in the last Bundestag election.
Perceptions of political competence have barely changed from the previous week. Sixty‑one percent of respondents still believe the Union can best handle Germany’s problems, out of a 19 % approval rate; the AfD is rated at 11 %. The SPD is trusted by 7 %, and the Greens and the Left each by 5 % (a 1‑point drop for the Left). Half of all respondents say no party can solve the nation’s problems.
Hope for a turnaround in support for Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) is still limited. Twenty‑five percent of the public report satisfaction with Merz’s performance, exactly as before, while 73 % are dissatisfied-leaving his support just above the 23 % low seen at the end of 2025/26.
The survey was conducted from 27 January to 2 February with 2,503 participants.
