Union and AfD Lose Ground SPD Grows as Infratest Poll Shows CDU CSU Falling to 26%

A recent Sunday poll conducted by Infratest for the ARD shows the CDU and CSU experiencing a slight decline in support, while the social‑democratic coalition partner has managed to strengthen its base. If the federal election were held today, the Union would gather around 26 % of the vote – two percentage points lower than at the start of January. The AfD would stand at 24 %, down one point. The SPD would rise to 15 %, up two points.

The Greens remain steady at 12 %, the Left at 10 %, and both the BSW and FDP sit at 3 % each, keeping them below the mandate threshold. Together, all other parties would collect 7 % of the vote, up one point.

The figures come from Infratest’s survey of 1,319 eligible voters for the ARD DeutschlandTREND conducted between Monday and Wednesday this week. Regarding the current government, 21 % of respondents said they are very satisfied or satisfied with its work (an increase of one point), while 78 % reported being less satisfied or not satisfied at all with the Union and the SPD.
