U.S. Submarine Sinks Iranian Warship off Sri Lanka Coast

On the week’s eve, an American submarine struck an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka, sinking it with a torpedo-marking the first time a hostile vessel has been brought down by torpedo since World War II.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the incident in Washington, noting the ship had been traveling in what appeared to be international waters.

Sri Lankan authorities later reported that the attack took place in the Indian Ocean and that at least 80 people lost their lives. The Iranian vessel had been returning to Iran from a port in eastern India.
