Two Arrests After Sabotage Attempts on German Navy Ships in Hamburg Port

Following sabotage attempts on German Navy vessels in the port of Hamburg, security authorities arrested two suspects, the General Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday. The incidents reportedly took place both in Hamburg and in Greece.

According to a Bild report, the detainees include a Romanian and a Greek man. In 2025, while working at Hamburg’s port, they allegedly tampered with several Navy ships that were stationed on a shipyard site. Their actions included pouring more than 20 kilograms of radioactive cement into a ship’s engine block, puncturing freshwater lines, removing caps from fuel tanks, and disabling the circuit breakers of the ship’s electronic systems.

Further details of the case remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing. No information about potential clients or financiers has yet emerged.
