Trump Gives EU Deadline For Zero Tariffs On US Goods By Fourth of July

Donald Trump has set a deadline for the European Union, demanding that it lower all tariffs on American products to zero by the country’s Independence Day on July 4th. Posting an update on his platform “Truth Social” on Thursday, Trump stated that he had waited patiently for the EU to fulfill its end of the “historic trade agreement” signed in Turnberry, Scotland, which he claimed was the largest trade deal ever.

According to Trump, he had previously spoken with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, giving her an ultimatum that required compliance by the “250th anniversary of our country”. He warned that failure to meet this deadline would unfortunately result in their tariffs against the EU significantly increasing again.

Beyond the trade negotiations, Trump also highlighted a “very good conversation” with the Commission President. He noted that they discussed numerous topics, including their complete agreement that Iran must never possess atomic weapons. He emphasized that a regime that murders its own people cannot possibly control a weapon that demands millions of lives.
