Trump Fires Justice Secretary Pam Bondi Amid Controversy

According to U.S. media reports released Thursday, President Donald Trump has apparently dismissed U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi. Bondi was reportedly informed of her dismissal on Wednesday, just before Trump’s address on the Iran war. That same day she accompanied a Supreme Court hearing that involved Trump’s effort to eliminate U.S. citizenship by birthright. Trump has increasingly been frustrated with Bondi; as attorney general, she was responsible for releasing the Epstein files, which Trump had initially opposed.

Unconfirmed reports say that Lee Zeldin is in talks to succeed Bondi. While serving as director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Zeldin dismantled the agency’s research division, relaxed restrictions on persistent chemicals, stripped the EPA of climate‑change responsibilities, and promised oil companies extensive exemptions from environmental regulations. Trump had also recently removed Kristi Noem from her role as interior security minister.
