US President Donald Trump claimed on Sunday that the United States forcibly stopped and subsequently seized an Iranian cargo ship. According to Trump, the vessel, named the “Touska” attempted to breach the US sea blockade, as reported on his platform “Truth Social”. The guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted the “Touska” in the Gulf of Oman and unequivocally ordered it to halt. Trump stated that because the Iranian crew ignored this warning, the US Navy vessel blew a hole into the engine room. The ship is now reportedly “in the custody of the US Marine Corps”. The “Touska” is already subject to sanctions from the US Treasury specifically due to “previous illegal activities” and currently, its cargo is being searched. The “Touska” is a container ship measuring 295 meters in length and 32 meters in width, and public records indicate it was last berthed in Malaysia one week prior to this incident.
