Trump Announces Heavy US Air Strike on Iran's Qeshm Island in Gulf

Donald Trump announced a major U.S. air strike on the Iranian island of Charg in the Persian Gulf. On Friday he posted on Truth Social that just moments earlier U.S. Central Command, acting on his orders, carried out one of the most devastating air‑strikes in Middle‑East history. Trump said that all military targets on the island were destroyed, but that oil infrastructure was spared for “moral” reasons. He warned that if Iran or anyone else obstructs the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, he will immediately reconsider that decision.

He added that Iran is nowhere near capable of defending itself against U.S. attacks and will never possess nuclear weapons or threaten the United States, the Middle East, or the world. Trump criticized the Iranian military and everyone tied to the regime, urging them to lay down arms and preserve what little remains of their country.

The president also praised U.S. weapons, describing them as the most powerful and modern the world has ever seen, and claimed that both during his first term and now he has built the world’s most lethal, powerful, and effective military.

Charg lies about 30 km off the mainland coast, has roughly 10,000 residents, and almost all Iranian oil exports transit the island.
